About IK database on Medicinal Plants

The IK Database on Medicinal and Useful Plants of SA is an initiative of the Department Science and Technology (DST) of the South African Government. The research, design and implementation of the database are being undertaken by the CSIR. The CSIR, through the Bioprospecting Programme of Bio/Chemtek, has been conducting research on traditional medicines for the past 15 years and has entered into a number of Bioprospecting Agreements with owners of Indigenous Knowledge.
